Found a great yum cha option. Its on Saturdays and Sundays only
8:00am to 2:00pm at El Chino, at the Intercontinental Hotel. Its
108rmb + 15%service charge ALL you can eat. The restaurant looks
great as all intercont restaurants do and looks out over the pool
and gardens..
Cheers

This special is listed on our recurring event calendar. Here is a link to the El China Dimsum special. As far as we know the price is actually still 88RMB so it is even a better deal, with a very nice environment and English speaking staff.

The Slowest Dimsum ever! We

The Slowest Dimsum ever!

We had an El Chino dimsum with 10 friends this afternoon at The InterContinental hotel...... sad to say that although the food quality is great (when it eventually made an appearance) the service is very slow and sporadic. Their claim was that the restaurant was very busy, however, it didn't seem to be that way. At least not busy in the main dining hall.... I wonder that probably the VIP rooms do get much better preferential treatment in this matter.

Anyway, all in all, the "All You Can Eat Dimsum" was actually more like "The Mystery Dimsum Weekend".... the whole time I was wondering where the heck is the Dimsum??? Yeah, lots of mystery there!

We went the previous week,

We went the previous week, 12th July. the food took ages to come out. We were not offered the "smorgasboard deal" until we asked for it. In hindsight it is nothing to write home about as most of the local chinese people just ordered "a la carte" and seemed to get their food quicker. Ours with the "special " deal had to be inputted into the computer which appeared to take foreever and when the food did come out, there seemed utter confusion as to whom it belonged to. We ended up with someone else's food but by then we did not care. At the end of our meal, we were brought out a dish we had already consumed. The table behind us thretened to leave if they did not receive their food. In the end they cancelled a number of dishes still not delivered and walked out. The supervisor did not seem perturbed at all at this.
Won't be going back in a hurry.

Hi there, my partner and I

Hi there, my partner and I went to this Yum cha the other week and loved it. The service was great...maybe it was the time we went...we did brunch at about 11.00am. We were given little menus where we ticked our choices. It did take a while for our dim sum to come out...but it was all made fresh which I personally love. It was a nice leisurely way to spend a couple of hours. It's definitely a departure from the expected yum cha of little trolleys circulating with choices.
They had some unusual dishes on the menu also, like green tea flavoured dumpling wrappers and dumplings in an almost Thai style soup.
maybe we were just lucky, but I'd definitely go back.
