Grand Opening: NYPD Pizza, Pizza and Wine Night 11th March

Seems like they had a nice turn out last night. I didn't partake in the buffet, but got me a small 9 inch. Closest to NY style I've had, but I'm really picky. It was good though and I recommend it over Papa John's and Pizza hut. I'm waiting for them to get in their other foods, I think they only have pizza available for now. They do list 6 sandwiches that I really want to try out. Another option for a decent sub around here besides Subway and Foccacino sure would be nice. They are both good, but I like me some options:D

Well, I'm just some guy in China:) Maybe, you helped take my order since the person who was taking my order spoke perfect english and seemed to be in charge. I'm from New Jersey and I was wearing a Yankees hat and listening to my Chinesepod mp3s on my ipod:) If my friends are up for it, I might be stopping by tonight, but they just got back from a trip home to the US so who knows. So when are those sandwiches gonna be available.? :D

I had NYPD for the first time yesterday at the new Central Walk location: a Monique's Favorite pizza (peperroni, black olives, and mushrooms). Great tasting pizza with lots of sauce but lacking a bit in cheese and, as a matter of fact, in every other ingredient. Otherwise very delicious; just not very filling. The staff were very friendly and accomodating:)

Thanks for opening a nice pizza place, that is pretty close to pizza back home. Here are my views and experiences and also my friends.

Pros:
Good pizza with great taste, and the 16" option (love it!). Bread sticks with sauce gets a thumbs up also. Enough said there you get the idea.

Cons:
Very disappointed in the staff quality considering many customers will be foreigners. They were friendly which is good, but they were sub par at there job even by China standards which is already bad enough. They have made a mistake on the bill and over charged every time me or my friends have gone. They also forget what you ordered if it's more complicated than one item and seem to forget to make anything beyond the pizza. I received my appetizers after the pizza and i had to remind them first. I know they forgot to make them. I don't expect it but i wish the staff knew some english.

Conclusion:
Those are my thoughts from what i have seen so far. I know it's hard to find good help in china, but this is a business created by a foreigner, and should consider staff quality more seriously. Staff quality is just as important as food quality in my opinion. The goal should be to find staff similar to subways quality or better because i never had a problem with them, and they understand some english. I hope these problems can be improved because i intend to eat at NYPD on a regular basis. It makes my visit very difficult to enjoy when i have to double check everything the staff should do correct and remind them how to do there job, or i'm forced to make a very simple order with one item to avoid simple mistakes. Maybe a more organized ordering process with more checks and balances can improve these issues. I hope this helps to improve the business and is not seen as an attack.

thanks for your inputs. i need more customers like you to give their honest opinions. this is the best way to improve ourselves. i'm in the market for english speaking staff.give me some time, we just opened last week. i can recommend customers ordering by numbers. each item has a number next to it. this will eliminate the confusion. let me know when u come by. once again, thank you

NYPD pizza is the best I've had in China so far. The sauce, crust and fresh toppings are awesome!

But, the service is lacking greatly. We were charged 102rmb for our 12" pizza (2 meat, 1 veg) and 2 coke's while the actual cost was only 72rmb during the Monday special (5rmb to upgrade from 9" to 12"). My friend didn't notice this and paid the bill, but we figured this out once we got home.

I recommend going due to the quality of the pizza, but I recommend you double-check your 'mai dan' before paying.

i checked the record tonight. u came on march 10. ur order was 12" pepperoni (80rmb) + mushroom)5rmb) + bacon(7rmb) & 2 cokes (10rmb) total 102rmb.

there was no coupon given to my staff.

We ordered a plain 12" pizza plus 3 toppings and 2 coke's along with the Monday upgrade coupon. Given the track record of the staff, I'm sure they misplaced it. Also, we were directly told by the owner about Monday's special while I was making my order. If you add that up, it amounts to 72rmb as quoted on your menu.

The age old saying goes: "The customer is always right"

Hello Thompson, I've been to the Central Walk location a few times now. The staff has had a 100% failure rate at remembering to make any appetizers. They only seem interested in making the pizza and then playing with each other. The pizza is great but i feel greatly discouraged in ordering any appetizers in the future. My comment about improving the ordering process was aimed at the staff not the customer. Meaning have extra checks and balances to remind them to make the full order. Appetizers are pointless if they don't come before the pizza. I'm looking forward to the beer and pizza night. See you around.
